Balenciaga and Music

To mark International Music Day, Cristóbal Balenciaga Museum is planning a dramatised choral and piano recital, the protagonist of which will be Cristóbal Balenciaga.

The “Balenciaga y la Música” [Balenciaga and Music] was the result of a collaboration between María Barandiaran (piano), María Mendizabal (soprano), Mariu Emilas (lyrics) and Agurtzane Intxaurraga (stage direction) and is intended to connect the creative world of Cristóbal Balenciaga with composers from his time.

Cristóbal Balenciaga’s figure and work has been the subject of numerous artistic reinterpretations emphasising shared links and inspiration. Now it is time for it to be expressed in music, a time to reflect on the interlocking lines that establish the designer’s relationship with different composers from his time.
