Circularity and fragility lie at the heart of this design, which sparked an exploration of floral motifs as well as circular forms in designs across the world. This led the student to create the Sinuous collection, the final piece of which emerges as a delicate avant-garde sculpture, its flowing curves redefining the silhouette that extends around the arms to create a petal-like structure around the body.
The process began with a paper model to carve out the shape, followed by the use of crinoline and sartorial boning to secure the structure. Layers of organza at the base support the garment and generate volume, lending a sense of lightness to its architectural form. The fabric was dyed with chemical pigments and finished with vinegar to achieve its distinctive tone. Each pleat was crafted by hand and set with a press, underscoring the precision and artistry behind the piece.
