Drawing inspiration from sailor uniforms and nautical traditions, this piece reimagines classic silhouettes, transforming uniform into a vehicle for artistic expression. The final look combines a wool–poly blend in a chequered pattern with vibrant yellow Lycra, creating a striking contrast of texture and tone. The garment envelops the body fully, extending from the shoulders into a bold, square-shaped upper structure.
Within the sculptural design, the arms are concealed and held close to the body, before releasing into looser lower sections that taper into sleeves, subtly revealing the wearer’s hands. From this architectural frame, the silhouette retracts into an elegant floor-length skirt, balancing rigidity with fluidity. The sailor influence is most evident in the collar and sleeves, which preserve the traditional stripes and colours of maritime dress. These details anchor the avant-garde construction in its nautical heritage, creating a look that is both sculptural and symbolic.
