This two-piece ensemble—comprising wading pants and a casting coat—draws inspiration from the shared fishing heritage of Balenciaga’s Basque roots and the designer’s Japanese background. The coat merges traditional Japanese sleeve construction with the silhouette of a Spanish rain poncho, its folded fabric mimicking the sweeping motion of casting a fishing line and evoking the rhythm of the sea. A detachable back panel offers versatility, inviting the wearer to personalise the silhouette and experience.

The voluminous trousers feature Balenciaga’s signature bubble hem, creating the illusion of suspension while adding sculptural volume at the base. By tacking the elongated pant legs over and through the waistband, a disrupted, cascading drape emerges—allowing a seemingly fluid fabric to retain shape and dimension. The coat’s construction begins with a jacket pattern integrated into five yards of fabric. Rather than imposing structure, the excess material is allowed to drape freely, shaping itself in harmony with the body’s movement.
