Rooted in research on Form Follows Function and plant morphology, this design explores how natural structures serve purpose—drawing from biomimetics, a discipline that learns from nature to solve design challenges and integrate organic forms. Using this framework as a springboard, the student drew inspiration from the Dianthus caryophyllus and the Madonna Lily, blending Balenciaga’s sculptural Spanish legacy with their own Israeli heritage.

The jacket’s base is constructed from stiffened black wool, providing a strong architectural foundation. Petal-like forms emerge from the sleeves, crafted from thick transparent mesh and embroidered with velvet thread. Each petal is laser-cut and stitched, creating a sculptural rhythm that mirrors the contours of the Madonna Lily. The contrast of the opacity of the bodice and stitching with the translucency of the sleeves mimics the outline of an x-ray, allowing light to pass through whilst maintaining a clear core structure.
