Inspired by her father, who worked as a garbage collector, the student’s final design focuses on the concept of the garbage bag and its hidden contents. She sought to explore the process of decay and how texture emerges as materials shrink and transform over time. This experimentation led to the creation of a textured jacket with a high, exaggerated collar, capturing the interplay between interior elements and the shifting volume and proportions as they evolve.

She began by handcrafting a tailored jacket, manipulating the material to achieve a decayed, shrunken appearance. As garments deteriorate, they unravel and fall apart, so she incorporated manually attached elements, such as the collar and lapel, both featuring frayed edges. She chose to cut off the right sleeve, replacing it with an embroidery that symbolises the process of decay. This intricate embroidery is crafted from luxurious materials, including silk velvets, second-hand furs, cotton fibres, real stones, and Swarovski beads, adding a tactile richness to the design.
