The inspiration for this dress is evident in its design: the universal and every day football shirt. Inspired by the unity that football creates, the student embarked on elevating the simple shirt to an elegant and gender non-conforming gown. The dress is a take on gender-neutral Blokette style, which can be worn by anyone, and contrasts typically masculine and exaggeratedly feminine pieces to create a new style of garments.
The principal elements of a football shirt are maintained in this design that includes the sponsor and club logo on the front, and the names and number of the player on the back. The sporty connotations of the typical jersey V neck shirt contrasts with the elegant, feminine silhouette of the rest of the dress, which is defined by the figure-hugging centre section, the voluminous skirt and the plunging neckline. The shiny fabric of the jerseys matches the sheen of the black satin, adding to its elegance.
