This design emerged from the fusion of natural processes. The silhouette, inspired by a stamp of a mushroom sourced from the student’s fridge, was scanned and digitally warped to form the final gown design that flows around the body with distinct sleeves that blend to form a hood. Drawing inspiration from natural objects, the student embraced a free-flowing creative process, reflecting the harmony between the design, the designer, and nature.

This design was sculpted directly on a mannequin, without a pattern for the silhouette. The majority of the garment is hand-sewn, with only 10% done by machine. The silk fabric is dyed freehand in shades of white, grey, and blue using the cyanotype technique, where the sun develops the colours, allowing nature to again collaborate in the process of creation. The blend of colours adds depth, creating light and shadow that enhance the organic flow of the dress as it wraps around the body.
