Sigurey Reynisdóttir
This jacket and skirt exudes a powerful yet airy dichotomy as the dramatic silhouette envelops the body, forming a distinctive, sculptural silhouette. The exaggerated collar wraps around the back and shoulders, as elegant layers frame an adjustable opening that elegantly ties at the side. The student adds ruching along the seams to add volume to the silhouette, which cascades into a train at the back.
The student uses boning to create the frontal structure of the jacket and to define the sleeves, achieving a balance between rigidity and wearability. The sleeves join at the back of the jacket, forming a circular design, which, through certain movements, transforms the garment into what the student describes as an airy tent. Counterbalancing the structure of the top half, the skirt spills out from underneath the jacket to the floor to add an element of lightness and ruffled at the back to complement the structural integrity of the top half.
