The upper clay piece features a fitted silhouette from the chest to the waist, transitioning into a concave form that protrudes outward from the midsection. To achieve this sculptural shape, a foundational base was constructed and used to develop two toiles. Mimicking a facing, a layer of clay and resin was applied to the lower interior, while a soft peach-like fabric facing was added to the upper interior for contrast and comfort.
Accompanying the top is a floor-length skirt, cut on the bias to create a fluid, dramatic drape. The construction favors hand stitching over machine work, emphasising craftsmanship and intentional irregularity. During the application of the second clay layer on the front, the mesh material sank, producing an organic rib-like texture. This anatomical detail was deliberately accentuated. A subtle sternum was sculpted at the center of the bodice, followed by the addition of a third clay layer, sanded then coated with two layers of bone-colored spray paint and sealed with resin.
