This design brings vegetables to the forefront, drawing inspiration from the fertile land during harvest. The student conceptualises this green envelope-style dress as a reflection of the rich vegetation of Piana del Fucino, their homeland. By playing with form, texture, and colour, the dress transforms the often-overlooked beauty of everyday nature into a striking satin green creation, featuring extravagant sleeves and intricate details along the shoulders and back.
The final look, made of heavy double silk satin and hand-dyed lambskin, uses mainly natural fabrics: silk, linen, hemp and nettle. Furthering the garment’s connection to nature, all fabrics and leathers have been hand-dyed using colours derived from the vegetables themselves, using the shibori technique. Before being dyed, the panels were designed to create texture on specific points of the garment that reflect the natural veins and textures of plants. The tear technique alongside the brush strokes of hand-painting adds to the natural texture and grain.
