This design consists of a sleeveless dress that layers with a wool coat to create a cohesive ensemble that both honours and modernises the simplicity and form of traditional clerical garments. The coat drapes over the dress to form a tiered A-line silhouette, meeting the gathered ivory skirt that encircles the lower waist, adding contemporary volumes and edge to the traditional design.
The wool coat is designed for simplicity, featuring a front and back piece connected by ten concealed buttons that trace the neckline to the hem. Great care was taken in its construction: the outer shell of the coat is joined by a single seam, while the inner lining is attached only at the neckline and armholes. The rich texture of the wool contrasts with the monochromatic polyester dress, which is interrupted by the circular skirt that gathers to create soft creases and added volume.
