Anastasia Pigkow
Drawing on inspiration from The Little Prince, the student explores the duality of wisdom and freedom conveyed in the story to create a design that weaves elements of whimsy and imagination. Three Balenciaga pieces served as the founding stimulus for their evocation of childhood, becoming a playful starting point from which the student reimagined a simple construction to make a silhouette that harmonises childlike wonder with innovative design.
To shape the garment, the student turned to origami techniques, allowing the structure to emerge as each fold contributed to the narrative of the design. The final creation transforms the structure of a classic shirt, exaggerating the collar and introducing new dimensions through playful details. A large bow, that matches the angular structure of the collar, at the centre bottom connects to a ruffle that encircles the hem, infusing the piece with both elegance and a sense of play.
