This cocoon silhouette ensemble features a dual-layer construction, combining a fitted inner jacket with an outer cape. Both the jacket’s shape and the emphasis on gloves draw inspiration from Balenciaga. As a modern reinterpretation of gloves as a symbol of wealth and status, this look embodies luxury while infusing contemporary sensibilities into Balenciaga’s iconic legacy through the chain beading detailing and modern mini skirt design.
With a clear focus on construction, meticulous attention is given to the fit, seams and volumes. The look is fitted at the waist and hem, while the rest of the silhouette cocoons outward, allowing freedom of movement. Strategically placed loops and buttons create unconventional patterns and enable removable elements. The ensemble exudes a sense of amorphous continuity, with flowing fabrics that interconnect yet maintain the versatility of detachable layers. The sleeves drape, while the exaggerated collar extends over the shoulders, and the back billows out, adding volume to the outer layer.
