Inspired by the internal structures of a toile replication, this design concept delves into the idea of revealing what is hidden. This project explores textiles and silhouettes that evoke the duality of concealment and revelation. Titled Spectacle, this dress, skirt and hat collection plays on the tension between the desire to be seen and the fear of attention.

The inner wrap skirt and hat use crin for form and structure. The dress, crafted from blue and red tartan fabric, is layered with crin ribbon strips that add texture and layers to the contrasting blend of colours and materials. The three protrusions and the garment’s silhouette are extended away from the body using internal straps. The front of the dress is vibrant and attention-grabbing, while the back is simple and sleek, reflecting the conflicting desires of being noticed and fearing the spotlight.
