Yol Meoded

Shenkar College of Engineering, Design and Arts

The student redesigns a traditional suit jacket and explores its structural possibilities. She works unconventionally, using wool and ceramics as the starting point for her study: "I looked for materials that express the contradiction between the delicate and the coarse, the light and the heavy, and what these differences can produce when they meet".

Materials and volumes

The upper part of the design is made of silk organza and ceramic buttons. The skirt, hand-crafted in felt onto a mould, provides the counterpoint to this sculptural outfit.

"It is fascinating to have gotten to know Cristóbal Balenciaga's work in depth. Thanks to him I began to experiment with materials I didn't know, to create volumes and new silhouettes".
