/ 2019—21

The aim of this project is to study Cristóbal Balenciaga’s iconic pieces from a sculptural point of view, equating his creations and contributions to the sculptural works of Richard Serra. It is a dialogue between the ephemeral and the permanent, it works among the voids and occupied spaces and  it  places the lights and shadows in the foreground.

Richard Serra

"I used Richard Serra's Verb-list, in which the different actions that hands can produce on a sheet are listed, as inspiration and rewrote it to show the movements a hand on a fabric can make. All the actions that can be made on a piece of fabric that help me to create a pattern, and on which the front and back on a unique pattern piece are created. The side is the consequence of folding the fabric instead of cutting it. In this way, I delve into the methodology of Balenciaga, hiding the stitching and the cut. The result of this technique is the consolidation of a unique piece and the creation of a new shape".
