Introduction to Haute Couture Fantasy Techniques
The masterclass will introduce participants to the techniques of Haute Couture.
This masterclass proposes an approximation to the specific methods used in the fantasy ateliers at the Balenciaga House. The sessions will include demonstrations of the maison sewing and ironing techniques; furthermore, aiming to convey these practical skills to the students, they will complete several exercises placing special emphasis on working with taffeta and lace fabric.
Dates: September 4-6, 2020.
Times: Friday, September 4, from 15:00 to 19:00, and Saturday and Sunday, 5 and 6, from 10:00 to 14:00 and 15:00 to 19:00. Total dedication: 20 hours.
Participants: Students or people holding qualifications in Fashion Design, Pattern Design and Dressmaking, fashion professionals and all those interested in learning or improving their knowledge with Haute Couture techniques.
Requirements: Participants must have and be able to prove that they have average knowledge of sewing techniques, and must also be capable of cutting, basting and sewing a garment.
Registration: Registration will be open from the day this masterclass is announced until (and including) July 19, 23:59. Those wishing to participate must complete the online registration form. Candidates are required to submit a curriculum vitae specifying their training and experience in the world of fashion, and a motivation letter stating why they want to participate in the activity, their connection to its content.
Number of participants: The maximum number of participants will be 16 people. The participants will be selected based on the requested documentation and the assignation of places will be communicated from July 24.
Language: The masterclass will be given in Spanish.
Price: Training 195 euros + Material 20 euros. Total, 215 euros.
As well as the cost of training, the participants must pay 20 euros for the material provided for the exercises. The Museum will supply each participant with the necessary kit, consisting of taffeta, lace and cotton fabric. The participants must come equipped with basic sewing equipment (scissors, needles, pins, etc.).
The Museum has established a protocol to ensure observance of the health measures in place for the purposes of safety in the educational activities and has therefore adapted the way it functions and its spaces to guarantee the wellbeing of its staff and visitors.

In the event of failing to meet the minimum number of participants, all of those who have registered will be informed of the activity cancellation and will receive a refund where appropriate.
A certificate of attendance will be issued at the end of the activity.
