Balenciaga’s creative universe is the starting point of this proposal for young children exploring how the body relates to movement through material, fabric and clothes.
Dantz(h)ariak, a joint production by Kunarte/Teatro Paraiso and Dantzaz, in collaboration with the Cristóbal Balenciaga Museoa, proposes a danced performance and a workshop for families.
For Balenciaga, harmony had to perfectly combine three elements: the dress, the body and the air. His revolutionary concept and his fascination with fluidity and the empty space separating the body from the dress take to the stage in this production reinterpreting the work of the brilliant Basque couturier, taking as their starting point the idea that “the dress is the first inhabited space”.
The creative process has united the dancers and creators from Gipuzkoa, Jone Amezaga and Miren Lizeaga, advised by the Kunarte/Teatro Paraíso and Dantzaz teams. On the stage, body, fabrics, dresses and air submerge the young spectators in a poetic and sensitive world.
But Dantz(h)ariak is more than just an everyday performance, since it adds to the exhibition a programme of community action and mediation aimed at families and young spectators.
