“Clothes to wear at home, everyday clothes in the house rather than creations attracting attention from the public” is the concept for this design, consisting of gardening gloves, a morning coat, a pyjama skirt, a felt wine bottle and baguette-shaped candle. This piece celebrates the essence of worn, textured loungewear and everyday items through a tailored lens.
For the design, the student focused on the structure of the jacket, which is elegant in its formal simplicity. The hat, gloves and coat are all made of felt wool and mohair, which was brushed by hand with yellow and black dye. The pyjama skirt was washed and dried repeatedly to gain the desired texture and finished with pressed print. The candle can be lit, the melted wax adding further texture to the work, an attention to detail that is maintained down to the leaf and flower brooches accessorising the ensemble.
