This look departs from the basic and ubiquitous 2D form found in all spaces—the rectangle—to explore an architecture for the body. The long black chiffon dress, paired with a black wool mini dress-coat, delves into the concept of intimate, dynamic space. It investigates shifting proportions and compositions, as well as the personal, ever-evolving relationship between the body, garment, and self.
The chiffon silk was intentionally shrunk and wrinkled through the application of heat and humidity, creating a textured contrast to the dense, opaque wool. These complementing yet contrasting materials not only sculpt the body differently but also add opposing sensory dimensions to the ensemble. The wool mini dress-coat is lined with the same wrinkled silk, while a wool-and-silk clutch completes the look. Vintage buttons are incorporated as decorative accents, adding subtle touches of brightness and colour to the design.
