Shai Lust
This garment draws inspiration from Balenciaga’s mastery of proportion and his ability to craft bold, impactful silhouettes from simple forms. The singular use of cobalt blue accentuates the contours, while the design itself strikes a balance between structure and movement—embodying a quiet, architectural focus. Influences from Tadao Ando and James Turrell are woven into the piece through their shared exploration of space, stillness, and geometry.
When unworn, the garment lies nearly flat, emphasising its minimal construction. Once worn, it transforms into a three-dimensional form that wraps and sculpts the body. Composed of two main panels—one for the upper body and one for the lower—these sections are joined by two discreet interior stitches, preserving the integrity of the outer lines. It is secured with a single front closure, and a hidden clip. The fabric is a custom textile made from a rich outer surface and a water-resistant inner layer. This fusion creates a dense, structured material that supports the silhouette.
