Nikka Solatorio
Titled As She Blooms the presentation conveys the student's metamorphosis throughout her craft mirroring the graceful unfolding of a calla lily, a rare and alluring blossom inspiring this creation with its distinctive cone-shaped petals and rare black variant. Much like the flower, renowned for its associations with decadence, allure, mystery, and grace, the design manifests into a feminine and enigmatic gown embodying the like.
Drawing inspiration from the trumpet-like form of the calla lily’s petals, the gown elegantly ascends towards the neckline, wrapping around the shoulders and neck to form a voluminous collar that mimics the flower's delicate yet enigmatic form. The design was created based on a zero waste basis, using 6 yards of silk gazar that was folded on the bias, and then moulded to the desired shape. The dress can be worn back to front and have the neck turned up or down.
