Redesigning how to envision and sculpt the female body, this design focuses on making every angle unique. A changing axis guides the eye over the garment to different angular structures that distort and reinvent the silhouette. Whilst construction is an essential part of fashion design, here the emphasis is the deconstruction of the construction: a reinvention and reinterpretation of clothing as a 360° concept.
The design is made out of 8.5 metres of deadstock fabric, lending its name to the piece. It consists of 18 patterns that each meet at the centre and play off each other, whilst emphasising the waist. The inner part of the garment uses tailor fusing to create the structure, and black and white jacquard lining. The pattern can only be seen at the frayed seams, allowing the inside to be visible, which alongside the visible stitching further point to the construction of the garment.
