Amarilis Dueñas in concert

The word "museum" comes from Greek and means "house of the muses". However, there seems to be one muse missing from these spaces at times: Aoide (or Euterpe), the muse of music.

Within the framework of the MUSAE programme, staking a claim for music within national museums, Cristóbal Balenciaga Museoa is offering 5 micro-concerts, led by the cellist Amarelis Dueñas, to accompany visitors as they walk around the museum and help them interpret the contents related to the life and work of Cristóbal Balenciaga.

Amarilis Dueñas, born in Valladolid, plays three instruments professionally (modern cello, Baroque cello and viola da gamba), making her debut as a soloist in 2014. She has won numerous international competitions and has given concerts in many countries, including Norway, Austria and Germany. Dueñas has received classes from well-known figures such as Jordi Savall, Peter Bruns or Jaap Ter Linden. She is currently working on a variety of projects with figures such as Ketil Haugsand and Yuko Inoue.
